The base is everything
Almost every failed paving job we are called to fix failed at the base, not the surface. Pavers sit on bedding sand, which sits on a compacted sub-base. A patio needs a firm layer beneath it, and a driveway that carries a car needs a proper compacted sub-base or it ruts and sinks. We also set the correct falls so water drains away, and install edge restraints so the field cannot spread and open up over time.
